The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reactivated the upload of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for all Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates nationwide.

JAMB announced the development in a post on its official X account on Tuesday, August 20, 2025, advising candidates to make use of accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

“Dear UTME candidates, this is to notify you that the upload of the 2025 WAEC result has been reactivated. Kindly visit any of our accredited facilities near you to access the service. Thank you,” the statement read.

Why the Upload Matters

The upload of WAEC and NECO results is a mandatory requirement for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions. JAMB relies on the uploaded O’level results to verify candidates’ academic performance before forwarding admission lists to universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

Failure to upload results could see otherwise qualified candidates excluded from the admission process, regardless of their UTME scores. To curb errors and fraud, JAMB has stressed that only its accredited CBT centres are authorized to carry out the uploads.

Backstory

The reactivation follows JAMB’s temporary suspension of the result upload portal on August 14, after the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) revised its earlier release of the 2025 WASSCE results.

The suspension was introduced to address technical hitches and ensure that only accurate, updated records were reflected in JAMB’s admission database. The shutdown affected thousands of UTME candidates seeking admission for the 2024/2025 academic session, especially those who had already uploaded the first set of results released by WAEC.

Wider Context

The disruptions formed part of a broader pattern of downtimes across Nigeria’s examination bodies in 2025.

  • WAEC had to review its 2025 results after discovering a grading error that initially showed a pass rate of 38.32%. The corrected release raised the rate to 62.96%, with 1,239,884 candidates securing at least five credits, including English and Mathematics.
  • NECO also shut down its platforms for nationwide maintenance after a string of unplanned failures disrupted registrations, result verification, and even delayed international student applications.
  • WAEC further confirmed that 191,053 results from the 2025 WASSCE remain withheld over malpractice investigations.

What Next

With the upload portal back online, UTME candidates are advised to immediately update their O’level records to avoid disqualification from the ongoing admission exercise.
