The Kogi State Government has commended Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for his unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of his home state. The government described him as “a patriotic Kogite who leads by example.”

Hon. Faleke, a native of Kogi State, recently donated a brand-new Hilux patrol vehicle to bolster operations at the newly commissioned Smart Police Divisional Headquarters in Ekinrin-Adde, Ijumu Local Government Area. The state-of-the-art facility was established through a collaboration between the Nigeria Police Trust Fund and the Kogi State Government, aimed at modernizing security infrastructure and enhancing policing capabilities across the state.

Security Above Politics

Speaking to journalists, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, conveyed the appreciation of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to the federal lawmaker, commending Faleke’s prioritization of public security over political ambition.

“The Government of Kogi State wishes to reecho the commendation earlier made by His Excellency during the commissioning of the Smart Police Divisional Headquarters,” Fanwo said.
“We appreciate the demonstrative contribution of Hon. James Faleke to the security architecture of the state. This is true leadership—putting the people above politics, and patriotism above personal gain.”

Fanwo revealed that Hon. Faleke has been instrumental in supporting intelligence gathering, logistics, and coordination with security agencies, often working quietly behind the scenes to enhance security operations throughout Kogi.

A Model for Selfless Leadership

The Commissioner noted that Faleke’s intervention will significantly enhance safety not only in Ijumu, but across Okunland, Kogi West, and the broader state.

“This is one intervention that will clearly improve the security landscape in Ijumu and beyond. This is not about publicity—it’s about real action that saves lives.
“Our people can distinguish between those genuinely working for their safety and those using politics to cover personal ambition,” Fanwo added.

He called on political and business leaders of Kogi origin to emulate Faleke’s dedication and sense of responsibility.

“Hon. James Faleke has proven that true leadership is about service. He’s not doing this to protect business interests or political networks—he’s doing it for the people of Kogi. His actions should inspire others.”

Government’s Stand on Illegal Mining and Sabotage

Fanwo also used the occasion to address the government’s growing concerns about illegal mining and its impact on local security.

“We are aware of the activities of illegal miners and their enablers. The state will not tolerate any form of economic sabotage that endangers our people. Anyone found guilty will face the full force of the law,” he warned.

Strengthening Partnerships for Lasting Peace

The Kogi State Government reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with patriotic stakeholders like Hon. James Faleke, as it continues to push for sustainable peace, safety, and development across all regions of the state.
