Manchester United recorded their third consecutive
Premier League victory with a 4–2 triumph over Brighton at Old Trafford,
marking their best league run since February 2024.
Matheus Cunha,
who had gone eight games without a goal since joining from Wolves for £62.5
million, finally found the net with a superb strike in the first half. Casemiro
doubled the lead before halftime, while Bryan Mbeumo added a third after
the break.
Brighton threatened a late comeback as Danny
Welbeck and Charalampos Kostoulas scored late goals, but Mbeumo
sealed the win in stoppage time with his second of the night.
The result lifted United into fourth place,
continuing the momentum from their recent wins over Liverpool and Sunderland.
Manager Ruben Amorim, who has faced scrutiny
following a shaky start, earned further backing after another confident team
display despite the absence of Harry Maguire. United co-owner Jim
Ratcliffe, who recently pledged to give Amorim three years to rebuild, was
seen applauding the performance.
Cunha’s goal — his seventh from outside the box since
last season — and Casemiro’s deflected strike gave United control early on.
Mbeumo’s composed finish later ensured United’s unbeaten record at Old Trafford
when leading at halftime remained intact.
