Senator Ali Ndume has raised concerns over evolving
tactics used by terrorists and bandits in Nigeria, warning that the groups are
becoming more coordinated and dangerous.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Ndume
revealed that insurgents now rely heavily on local informants and
unconventional methods to execute attacks.
According to him, these groups often employ
“hit-and-run” strategies, gathering intelligence within communities before
launching operations. He noted that insiders within society are increasingly
providing critical information to aid these attacks.
The lawmaker also disclosed that criminals have begun
using commercial tricycles, commonly known as Keke Napep, to transport
explosive devices to targeted locations.
Ndume explained that attackers package explosives and
send them through unsuspecting riders to specific destinations, making
detection more difficult.
He added that terrorists are constantly adapting,
seeking new ways to infiltrate communities, strike quickly, and escape without
being apprehended.
The senator attributed the worsening security
situation to gaps in intelligence gathering, stressing the need for stronger
surveillance systems and improved information networks.
He also expressed alarm over the growing boldness of
these groups, noting that some now record and share their activities openly on
social media platforms like TikTok.
Ndume’s remarks highlight increasing concerns about
security challenges in the country and the urgent need for enhanced
counter-terrorism strategies.
