The Academy Awards returned to the Dolby
Theatre with a night filled with major wins and historic milestones for
filmmakers and actors.
The awards ceremony, hosted by Conan O'Brien,
celebrated the best films and performances of the year.
Director Paul Thomas Anderson emerged as the biggest
winner of the night as his film One Battle After Another dominated the
ceremony, winning six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best
Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Another standout film of the night was Sinners,
which earned a record 16 nominations and secured four awards.
Among its wins was Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan for his dual role in
the film. The movie also earned Best Original Screenplay for director
Ryan Coogler.
In the acting categories, Jessie Buckley claimed her first
Oscar, winning Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet.
Meanwhile, Amy Madigan took home the Best Supporting Actress award for
her role in Weapons.
Veteran actor Sean Penn won Best Supporting Actor
for One Battle After Another, further cementing the film’s dominance
during the ceremony.
The night also saw Sinners win Best Original
Score for composer Ludwig Göransson and Best Cinematography for
Autumn Durald Arkapaw.
