The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two
suspects linked to an attack on officials of the National Union of Road
Transport Workers in Ikere-Ekiti.
The development was confirmed by the command’s
spokesperson, Sunday Abutu, in a statement released on Friday.
Armed Group Storms Motor Park
According to the police, the incident occurred around
8:00 a.m. on April 2, when a group of about 20 armed individuals invaded the
NURTW motor park in Ikere-Ekiti using multiple vehicles.
The attackers reportedly targeted the leadership of
the park in an attempt to take control.
Suspects Arrested, Others Escape
Following a distress call, police operatives swiftly
responded to the scene, leading to the arrest of two suspects identified as
Sunday Ogunsakin and Gbenga Oluwatosin.
Other members of the group reportedly fled, with
security agencies currently working to track them down.

The suspects were also accused of vandalising campaign
posters belonging to Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji during the incident.
Police Urge Calm
The Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye Michael,
called on residents to remain peaceful and avoid actions that could disrupt
public order.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining
security and protecting the rights of citizens across the state.
