The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), in
collaboration with Innov8 Hub, has inaugurated a new cohort comprising 11 teams
from public tertiary institutions across Nigeria. This initiative is part of
the TETFund Alliance for Innovative Research (TETFAIR) programme, aimed at
transforming academic research into market-ready solutions.
The selected teams, drawn from four universities, four
polytechnics, and three colleges of education, will engage in a year-long
programme at Innov8 Hub's facilities in Abuja. The programme includes intensive
bootcamps, mentorship sessions, and prototype development phases, focusing on
areas such as agriculture and food technology, environment and energy, health
and accessibility, information communication technology, security,
transportation, and production processes.
Building on the success of previous cohorts, which
have produced over 250 prototypes, this new phase continues to bridge the gap
between academic research and industry needs, promoting a culture of innovation
and entrepreneurship within Nigeria’s educational institutions.
The TETFAIR programme underscores TETFund’s commitment
to fostering research-based innovation, contributing to the nation’s
socio-economic advancement, and aligning with the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals.
