The Emir of Fika and Chairman, Yobe State Council of
Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Abali
Ibn Muhammadu Idrissa, has applauded the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, EFCC, for “doing a wonderful job” and promised to continue to
align with it in the fight against economic and financial crimes and
other acts of corruption.
The traditional ruler gave the charge in Fika Emirate
on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 when the Maiduguri Zonal Director of the EFCC,
Commander of the EFCC, CE Aisha A. T Habib paid him a courtesy visit.
According to the monarch, "the EFCC is doing a
wonderful job; we congratulate and urge you to maintain the tempo as you are
not alone in the fight against all fraudulent activities happening in the
country. We will continue to support you and our doors are upon you
whenever you need us. You should feel at home and call upon the Emirate
whenever the need arises", he said.
Earlier in her remarks, Habib told the Emir that the
visit was to cement the existing relationship between traditional institutions
and the EFCC.
She pointed out that fighting economic and
financial crimes and other acts of corruption is not a duty of the EFCC
alone but rather a task for all, including the traditional institution.
In another development, at another visit to the
Emir of Biu, Alhaji Dr. Mustapha Umar Mustapha, Habib reiterated the need
for closer synergy between the EFCC and traditional institutions.
In response, the Emir stated that the
relationship between the EFCC and traditional institutions in Borno and Yobe
States is cordial and more noticeable.
Meanwhile, the Maiduguri Zonal Director was at the
Nigerian Army University and Command Primary and Secondary Schools to launch
Zero Tolerance and Integrity Clubs
The Vice-Chancellor, Nigerian Army University, Biu,
Borno State, Professor Lawan Bala Buratai, stated that the University was
committed to building knowledge in character and learning in order to educate
not only the students but the community at large. "The University
aims at knowledge sharing, creativity and innovation for national self
–reliance”, he said. Habib urged the students to be agents of
change and vanguards in championing the fight against corruption .
