Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two
suspected informants believed to be working for Boko Haram and the Islamic
State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during an intelligence-led operation in Yobe
State.
The suspects were apprehended on June 4, 2026, by
personnel of the 120 Task Force Battalion in Gonori, working in collaboration
with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Military sources identified the suspects as
28-year-old Gambo Bukar from Kimeri Village and 21-year-old Ahmad Ahmed from
Yari Village, both located in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to security sources, the arrests followed
credible intelligence suggesting that the two men were allegedly providing
information and support to Boko Haram and ISWAP operatives active within the
region.
“The troops acted on actionable intelligence, tracked
the suspects, and successfully carried out the arrests,” a military source
disclosed. “Efforts are currently underway to locate and apprehend a third
suspect who remains at large.”
Following their arrest, the suspects were handed over
to the appropriate military authorities for further investigation and possible
prosecution.
Security officials noted that intelligence-driven
operations continue to play a vital role in the ongoing counter-insurgency
campaign across the North-East, helping security forces identify terrorist
collaborators, disrupt support networks, and limit insurgents’ access to
critical information and logistics.
The military also stated that while the security
situation across the North-East remains relatively calm, it continues to be
unpredictable, underscoring the need for heightened vigilance and sustained
operations by troops and other security agencies.
Operation Hadin Kai has intensified efforts in recent
months to dismantle terrorist cells and strengthen security across communities
affected by insurgency in the region.
