Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have
repelled a bandit attack at Majebiyu Village in Ibi Local Government
Area of Taraba State, recovering five dane guns and two
motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing assailants.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Umar
Muhammad, the 6 Brigade Public Relations Officer, the incident
occurred on 9 October 2025 after troops stationed at Tapga Ngasawa
Village received credible intelligence from locals that armed men had
invaded Majebiyu, shooting sporadically, vandalising property, and
dispossessing residents of valuables and motorcycles.
The troops swiftly mobilised to the area and made
contact with the attackers, who fled into nearby bushes upon sighting the
advancing soldiers — reportedly sustaining gunshot wounds during their escape.
A subsequent search and clearance operation in
the vicinity led to the recovery of the weapons and motorcycles.
The Commander, 6 Brigade, Brigadier General
Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism,
courage, and quick response. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to mopping
up illegal arms and preventing their use in criminal activities within the
state and its environs.
The Nigerian Army also urged residents to remain
law-abiding and continue providing credible, timely intelligence to
support ongoing operations aimed at sustaining peace and security across Taraba
State.
