U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a strong ultimatum to Iran, threatening to destroy key power infrastructure if Tehran fails to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned that the United States would take decisive military action within 48 hours if the waterway remains restricted.

“If Iran doesn’t fully open, without threat, the Strait of Hormuz… the United States will hit and obliterate their power plants,” Trump declared.

The warning comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, just a day after the U.S. president hinted at possibly scaling down military operations following weeks of conflict. Meanwhile, thousands of American Marines are reportedly being deployed to the region as the situation escalates.

Iran, however, pushed back against the ultimatum. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that restrictions only apply to vessels linked to countries involved in attacks against Iran, adding that neutral nations would not be affected.

In response to the U.S. threat, Iran’s military warned it could target American and allied infrastructure across the region, including energy and desalination facilities.

The situation intensified further after Iran launched missile strikes into southern Israel, injuring more than 100 people. The attacks caused significant destruction in cities such as Arad and Dimona, damaging residential buildings and leaving dozens seriously wounded.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a strong retaliation, promising to respond “on all fronts.”

Reports indicate that one of the strikes hit near Dimona, a location widely believed to host Israel’s nuclear facility, although the country has never officially confirmed possessing nuclear weapons.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said the attack was in retaliation for earlier Israeli strikes on its Natanz nuclear site, and claimed additional targets included military installations in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

Shortly after the missile attacks, Israel confirmed launching a fresh wave of airstrikes targeting Tehran, signaling a dangerous escalation in the ongoing conflict.

With global oil routes, regional security, and major world powers involved, the crisis is rapidly deepening, raising fears of a wider confrontation across the Middle East.
