A 27-year-old man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been arrested by New Orleans police for allegedly stabbing his father to death and injuring his two sisters during a violent domestic incident on Pebble Street.

According to Punch, family members told local outlet WWL Louisiana that the deceased, Samuel Eweni, was a computer science professor at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). Relatives also confirmed that the two injured victims were his daughters.

Family members described the attack as shocking and unexpected, noting that the suspect had a history of mental illness but had never shown violent behavior in the past.

WWL reports that one of the sisters has since been discharged from the hospital, while the other remains admitted but is expected to recover.

The New Orleans Police Department stated that Eweni was located in Jefferson Parish, where he was detained and is currently undergoing a medical evaluation while in law enforcement custody.

Police say the incident occurred around 9:59 p.m. on November 11, 2025. Responding officers arrived to find an unresponsive man suffering from fatal stab wounds and two other adult victims with non-fatal injuries.

Detectives have identified Chukwuebuka Eweni as the primary suspect and have obtained an arrest warrant for:

  • One count of second-degree murder
  • Two counts of attempted second-degree murder

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the official cause of death after conducting an autopsy and notifying the next of kin.
