The management of Kwara Tabloid has announced
that distinguished sports administrator, Dr. Steve Olarinoye, will lead
the list of eminent personalities to be honoured at its 12th Annual Lecture and
Awards Ceremony scheduled to hold in Ilorin.
The prestigious event is slated for Friday,
December 19, 2025, at Feebies Event Hall, Tanke, Ilorin, beginning
at 3:00pm.
Now in its twelfth edition, the Lecture and Awards
Ceremony has become one of Kwara State’s most respected platforms for
recognising excellence in sports, governance, leadership, community service,
media practice, and humanitarian work. It attracts industry leaders and
stakeholders from within and outside the state.
According to the organisers, Dr. Olarinoye—former
Secretary General of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation and a well-respected
advocate for sports development—is being honoured for his decades-long
contribution to sports administration, his mentorship of young athletes,
and his continued commitment to national and international sports advancement.
In an official notification letter signed by the
Convener, Tunde Bakare, Dr. Olarinoye was informed of his selection:
“You have been selected as an awardee at the
forthcoming Kwara Tabloid Public Lecture and Awards Ceremony.
The award is in the Builders and Titans category, in appreciation of
your efforts toward sports development in the nation. We are particularly
delighted that you are one of the foremost Titans that propelled sports
administration in Nigeria to the Olympian height it attained in days past.”
Other recipients at the ceremony include distinguished
personalities from the media, public service, youth development, private
enterprise, and humanitarian sectors, each selected for their outstanding
contributions in their respective fields.
The event will feature a keynote lecture by celebrated
neurosurgeon and national figure, Professor Wale Sulaiman (CON), who
will speak on leadership, nation-building, and the evolving role of the
media in contemporary society.
The ceremony will be chaired by Senator (Dr.)
Ibrahim Olóríegbe, while Mrs. Bunmi Babalola will serve as the
Chairlady of the occasion.
Kwara Tabloid
noted that the annual initiative aligns with its long-standing mission to celebrate
excellence, inspire younger generations, and strengthen the culture of merit
across Kwara State.
The event is expected to draw attendance from government
officials, traditional rulers, sports icons, business leaders, journalists, and
the general public, all of whom continue to support the platform’s vision.
