The Director General of the National Sports
Commission, NSC, Hon Bukola Olopade, has congratulated the President of the
Nigeria Rugby Football Federation, NRFF, Dr Ademola Are, for his election as
the 1st Vice President of the Union of West African Rugby Federations.
Dr Are, who has been at the forefront of revamping the
Country’s Rugby got elected alongside other executives in Abidjan, Cote
d’Ivoire.
The DG said this is a testament to the hard-work
currently going on in the Nigeria Rugby family since Dr Are became the
President and only shows that the West Africa Sub region also recognises that.
” This is very massive for the continuous growth of
Rugby in the Country because the NRFF President can now use his current
position to seek different intentional collaborations that will strengthen the
growth of the Sports both locally and in the West African sub region”.
” And for us at the National Sports Commission, these
are the kind of feat we want our Sports administrators to strive for and get
actively involved in international Sports politics”.
The Director General added that this is also a big
boost for the RHINSE campaign because having Nigerians holding key positions in
continental and region sports bodies will help the chances of bringing
international competitions to the Country.
” Our Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria Sports
Economy is definitely on the right track I must say, because with having a
Nigerian as 1st Vice President of the West African Rugby Body, Nigeria will
have more say in terms of staging international competitions and as we know
tournaments help to boost infrastructural development of a Country”.
” I want to congratulate Dr Ademola Are once again
because he is a visionary and innovative Sport administrator who will use this
new position to elevate and maximise the potential of Rugby in the Country and
beyond”.
” I recalled that the NRFF was the first Federation to
key into the Sports Commission’s COO Initiative when they appointed Tunde Delu
as their Chief Operating officer, and today we are already seeing the impacts
on all fronts”, he concluded.
