Eagles defender Ola Aina has expressed deep concern for his
compatriot, Taiwo Awoniyi, who is currently recovering from a serious abdominal
injury, Sports247 gathered.
The Nottingham Forest striker sustained the injury
during a match against Leicester City and was subsequently placed in an induced
coma following surgery.
Taiwo has since emerged from the coma and is on the
road to recovery .
Aina, who plays alongside Taiwo at Nottingham Forest,
revealed that the entire team had sent messages of support to their teammate.
He emphasized the emotional impact of seeing someone
close to you endure such a challenging experience.
“It’s not nice to see someone you’re familiar with go
through things like that,” Aina remarked.
“It affects everyone in some way.” He added that all
they can do is offer support and pray for Awoniyi’s full recovery .
Taiwo has publicly acknowledged the support from his
teammates, fans, and well-wishers.
In a social media post, he expressed gratitude for the
encouragement he has received and conveyed his eagerness to return to the
field.
“With the grace of God, I am grateful to still be
here, to still be fighting, to still be smiling, and to be in good spirits,”
Awoniyi wrote .
As Taiwo continues his recovery, the solidarity shown
by his teammates, including Aina, highlights the strong bond within the Super
Eagles and Nottingham Forest squads.
Their collective support serves as a testament to the
power of camaraderie and friendship in overcoming adversity.
